After many months of planning and preparation, the Idaho Republican Presidential Caucus is set to kick off in exactly seven days. By now you should have received a postcard with your caucus location on the back. Bring this card with you for faster processing, but don’t worry if you forget — it’s not required!
This is your opportunity to decide which candidate will bring Idaho’s 32 delegates to the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee. Check out our previous newsletter with more information on caucus locations and what to expect next Saturday:
Everyone is talking about the Caucus!
While you wait for next Saturday, check out legislative updates from District 14’s three Republican lawmakers:
Sen. C. Scott Grow:
The Joint Finance Appropriations Committee (JFAC) is changing the way it processes state agency budgets. The new process begins with approval of ten maintenance budgets based on last year’s spending, then a much more transparent review and approval process of the current year requests from state departments. Of the ten maintenance budgets, five passed in the House and the other five passed in the Senate this week. In the Senate they passed with unanimous Republican support. The bills will now move to the opposite chambers for final approval before going to the Governor. We are moving ahead with the scrutiny of department requests for the current year.
Rep. Ted Hill:
Thank you for the continued trust and support to represent District 14 in the Idaho Legislature. It is an honor and duty to serve this community, and it’s one I take seriously.
We will address many of the top issues this session that we’ve heard from our communities including public education and school choice options, public safety, state/government efficiency, infrastructure, and tax relief, among others. All of these decisions will be based on what is right for the state of Idaho to ensure a strong and prosperous future.
Rep. Josh Tanner:
It’s been a busy two weeks since my last letter. The maintenance budgets that we worked so hard on in JFAC finally reached the House and Senate floors, despite fervent opposition from members of both parties. I’m proud of the work we did to bring you greater transparency with regards to how the government spends your hard-earned money.
Stay tuned for more information from your District 14 Republican Central Committee. Our next meeting is Thursday, March 14, at 7pm, at the VFW Hall in Emmett.
